Sackum Overhead
| Location: | Hwy 1, near Lytton, BC |
| Length: | 105m |
| About: |
The Sackum Overhead on Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge had reached the end of its design life, and its replacement over the CPKC rail line had to be built while keeping this critical Trans-Canada route open. Rapid-Span supplied the superstructure package for the new 104.5-meter, two-span bridge: 20 steel plate girders and 144 prestressed stay-in-place precast deck panels. Producing steel and precast in-house allowed both scopes to be coordinated on one schedule, with girder deliveries completed in June 2026. The new two-lane bridge is scheduled to open in winter 2027. |
